Dr. Nida Chenagtsang
Dr. Nida Chenagtsang is the co-founder, medical and spiritual director and root teacher of the Sorig Institute and the Pure Lands. Dr. Nida. was born in Amdo, in North Eastern Tibet. Interested in Sowa Rigpa, the traditional healing science of his people, he began his early medical studies at the local Tibetan Medicine hospital. Later he gained scholarship entry to Lhasa Tibetan Medical University, where he completed his medical education in 1996. He completed his practical training at the Tibetan Medicine hospitals in Lhasa and Lhoka.
Alongside his medical education, Dr Nida received complete Vajrayana Buddhist training in the Longchen Nyingthing and Dudjom Tersar traditions and trained in the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, spiritual counterpart to Sowa Rigpa, with his teachers Khenchen Troru Tsenam and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyaltsen.
Dr. Nida has published many articles and books on Sowa Rigpa (Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition. He has extensively researched ancient Tibetan healing methods, and has gained high acclaim in the East and West for his revival of traditional Tibetan external healing therapies.
Dr. Nida is the Co-Founder and Medical Director of Sorig Khang International (formerly the International Academy for Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and Co-Founder of the International Ngakmang Institute, established to preserve and maintain the Rebkong Ngakpa yogic culture within modern Tibetan society. He students in Sowa Rigpa and the Yuthok Nyingthig spiritual tradition in over 40 countries around the world.
Christiana Polites, MAc
Christiana Polites received her Bachelor of Arts in the Comparative Study of Religion at Harvard University and has been immersed in Eastern spiritual traditions for over twenty years. She is a dedicated practitioner of the Yuthok Nyingthig, the cycle of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism connected specifically with the medical tradition of Tibet. She has studied both Tibetan and Chinese Daoist healing arts and received a Masters in Acupuncture from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She has traveled extensively around the world, seeking out authentic living lineages in both the healing and spiritual sciences.
Christiana is the executive director of the Pure Land Farms and the Sorig Institute. She teaches courses on Tibetan Medicine and rejuvenation and guides retreats and practices in Tibetan healing yoga and the Yuthok Nyingthig meditation tradition, and hosts regular courses with visiting doctors and teachers.
In collaboration with Dr. Nida, Christiana founded SKY Press, publishing house of books on Tibetan Medicine and Meditation. Together they are are currently developing a line of Tibetan herbal products, Pure Land Herbs, based on traditional Tibetan formulas.
Christiana is also the founder of Yangchenma Arts & Music, a community organization celebrating the richness and diversity of human cultures through their artistic and musical wisdom traditions, kept alive through the connection and shared experience of humans throughout the world.
