with Erik Jampa
The second in a three part series introducing the fundamental theory and practice behind Sowa Rigpa, Traditional Tibetan Medicine with visiting guest, Erik Jampa Andersson!
This workshop introduces the theory of wind (Tib. རླུང་ loong) energy, a principle factor in contributing to stress, anxiety, and insomnia according to Tibetan Medicine. Techniques will be shared to work with loong energy from the perspective of body, energy, and mind, such as Nejang healing yoga exercises, breath work, and simple meditation.
For the main portion of this workshop, we will learn to practice hormé (Tib: ཧོར་མེ།), 'Mongolian Moxibustion,' one of Tibetan Medicine's important external therapies used to calm and balance the wind energy. This practice of the application of warm oil infused herbal compresses on particular points on the body is a simple home remedy as well as a technique that can easily be integrated into one's practice of massage or acupuncturists for professionals of the healing arts.
