How to Reconnect to Nature, Your Body, and Food to Maximize Energy and Live Well Through Ancient Innovations

Friday, april 26 - Sunday, April 28th

This event is limited to 20 participants and there is a minimum of 6 participants

In this weekend retreat immersion of sensory awareness meditation and sensual food exploration (harvesting, cooking, and eating), you will be guided in the wisdom of the five elements of Asian Medicine, as they relate to nature, your body, and the foods you eat. Come discover how to choose and combine foods that rebalance your body, based upon your own unique typology, to support energy, vitality, and longevity, supported by the healing farm and garden of the Medicine Buddha.

 Join expert guides, Jummee Park, food shaman of JummeeBliss Kitchen LA, and Dr. Bryan Watrous, Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine) practitioner, in this participatory farm to table exploration supported by the 10 acre Topanga, Pure Land Farms, Center for Tibetan Medicine, Meditation, & Rejuvenation.

By the time you leave this three day immersion into nature, food, and health, based upon the wisdom traditions of Chinese Medicine, Tibetan Medicine ( Sowa Rigpa) and Ayurveda,

you will discover:

  • Your body’s own unique constitution and receive clarity on the exact foods and type of diets that support your body and those that don’t. One size does not fit all. Your superfoods, the foods that support healing, vitality and happiness

  • Food Wisdom for preventative medicine and how to live ageless through the seasons of the year and the “seasons of your life”. 

  • How to Transform your relationship to food, by hands-on cooking, learning to select and combine foods in a proper way to increase health and discover the joy of cooking, as creative process and mindfulness practice

  • Simple and effective Ancient Tibetan Meditations and wisdom to reconnect to nature, your body, and food in a stress-relieving sanctuary

  • Simple, empowering, and delicious, cooking techniques and recipes

  • Harvest, prep, cook, and share  delicious farm-to-table meals together in the outdoor garden with a loving community

The Program

Friday April 26th

3pm: Opening Circle 

Join in the beautiful healing space of Yuthok Ling, the temple dedicated to Yuthok Yonten Gonpo, the 12th century father of Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa) and emanation of the Medicine Buddha. Together in a safe and inclusive environment, through interactive food meditation/games we will discover our food/nourishment/cooking challenges and uncover any hidden obstacles to bringing healing and sensory appreciation through food into our lives. Together we will set our own individual and group intentions for this three day food exploration.

7pm: Dinner

Enjoy a sensory awakening meal, lovingly prepared by Jummee, served in the Yuthok Ling temple

8 pm: Guided Breathwork and Mind/body Therapy

Guided breathwork and simple, Tibetan, body/mind therapy, to relax the nervous system and restore the body, allowing for mindful awareness and restful sleep.

Saturday April 27th

8 am: Breakfast

Enjoy a simple breakfast in the Tea Room and shaded deck

9 - 10:45 am: Exploring the 5 Elements of Nature, our Body, and Food

We will explore the ancient, timely, and practical concept of the 5 Elements and together discover your unique constitutional type, according to the principles of Sowa Rigpa (traditional Tibetan Medicine) and what types of food and cooking styles best nourish your body/mind for vitality and joy, with a special emphasis on Spring eating.

11 - 12pm: A Journey in Medicine Buddha’s Botanic Garden

Meet the Medicine Buddha in our Tanaduk Garden and learn about the sacred geometry and medicinal plants that form this sacred mandala.
Further exploration of the five elements and seasonal eating with emphasis on Spring nutritional choices.
Mindfully harvest herbs and vegetables to contribute to shared meal while learning about the healing qualities of the foods selected.

12-1pm: Cooking as Mindful Practice

In the garden, herb harvesting, Farm-to-table prep, cooking five element dishes,

 food combinations. Colors and nutrients. Plating as a creative process. Cooking as mindful practice

1:00 - 2pm: Revitalizing sensory food feast prepared by Jummee’s Bliss Kitchen

Enjoy an abundant and pure, authentic, artisan plant-based farm-to-table meal served in Tanaduk Gardens!

2:00 - 4pm: Rhythms of Life

In our shaded outdoor garden classroom we will explore how are body’s change as we age and foods to support and nourish our body/mind/emotions each decade. We will dive deeper into five elements foods and diets and how to understand various diets, such as vegan, vegetarian, keto, paleo, etc to know which may suit your unique 5 element constitution and when. 

4 - 6pm: Rest, Heal, Rejuvenate

Explore nature, Enjoy our walking trails, gardens, and tranquil spots for meditation and contemplation. Self love, self nourishing, time to reflect.

6 - 7pm: Simple, delicious and nourishing dinner served in the temple, prepared by Jummee’s Bliss Kitchen.

7 - 9pm: Create soothing herbal eye pillows and dream pouches from the healing herbs of the Medicine Buddha garden. Guided breathwork, movement and stretching.

Sunday April 28th

8 am: Breakfast

Enjoy a simple breakfast in the Tea Room and shaded deck

9 - 10:45 a.m.

Meet in the temple, discover how to examine your tongue to see the health of your internal organs.  Learn secrets of ancient longevity knowledge, and recipes on how, when, and why to detox.

11-12pm Communal brunch cooking with Jummee

Learn along as you create delicious recipes with Jummee. Discover the art of food combination and how to use 

Fresh herbs, spices, and oils for the prevention of disease and as a healing powerhouse. Discover Rejuvenation tips and simple garden teas for health and enjoyment

12 - 1 pm Concluding Nourishment

Enjoy culinary artistry with a delicious medicinal meal communally created and expertly guided by Jummee 

1-3pm Closing Circle

Sharing experience, breakthroughs, empowerment, concluding wisdom, simple action plan how to bring the Nourish your Nature retreat experience home 


The Nourishment

Jummee’s journey of mysterious illness and suppressed misused memories (trauma) have become the soil of her passion, curiosity, and discipline in her personal transformation over the decades.

She fertilizes Eastern wisdom and Western philosophies that have been studied by leading world-class teachers to alkalize them into her unique blend of digestible holistic recipes for everyday bliss to turn on the SuperHuman Code to support conscious leaders and the community.

Jummee visions a conscious community of humanity, compassion, and love. She embodies the change and solution to world challenges we face every day by offering an accessible holistic lifestyle wisdom with contagious joy and play.

Organic farm-to-table meals prepared by Jummee Park (Jummee’s Bliss Kitchen)

Bryan is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, with nearly 20 years in private medical practice, specializing in pain relief and the treatment of chronic disease and mental health. He is a California Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist and expert of acupuncture, East Asian botanical medicine, moxibustion, cupping, massage, medical qigong, and diet and lifestyle therapy. Bryan is a student of Tibetan Buddhist Vajrayana meditation of 25 years. He is also a Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine) practitioner and works with Dr. Nida Chenagtsang as his clinical assistant.

Bryan has a passion for food, traditional food culture, and cooking and sees food as medicine, in the largest sense, not only sustaining and nourishing our bodies but our senses, our emotions, and innate vitality and joy. Bryan sees his work as a catalyst to empower our own inner infinite healing potential and this begins with our reconnection to nature, our bodies, and what and how we eat.


The Natural Environment

Pure Land Farms is a ten acre rural sanctuary in Topanga located a short drive, yet worlds away from Los Angeles. Modeled after Tanaduk, the Pure Land of the Medicine Buddha and inspired by the wisdom of traditional Tibetan medicine, it offers a tranquil escape from the city with a Buddhist temple, traditional Mongolian nomad yurts, and surrounding gardens for meditation, contemplation, and healing.
